Death toll in Himachal Pradesh’s flash flood reaches 11, search for missing continues
The death toll in floods caused by cloudburst in Himachal Pradesh has increased to 11. Two more bodies were found in Mandi district, taking the total number of missing people to more than 40.
On the night of July 31, cloud burst incidents took place in Nirmand, Sainj and Malana of Kullu, Padhar of Mandi and Rampur subdivision of Shimla.

Rescue operations are going on with the help of drones and other equipment. A total of 410 rescue personnel from various teams including Army, NDRF, SDRF, ITBP, CISF, Himachal Pradesh Police and Home Guards are involved in the search efforts.
Announcement of relief measures
The state government will provide Rs 50,000 to each affected family immediately and Rs 5,000 monthly for rent for the next three months. Apart from this, they will be provided with gas, food and other essential items so that they can deal with the subsequent situation.
More than 30 people are missing in Samej village of Sarpara Gram Panchayat of Rampur subdivision alone. Due to low water level, more machines have been deployed to assist in rescue operations.
Monsoon havoc
The monsoon season which started from June 27 in Himachal Pradesh has caused a lot of damage. According to the State Emergency Operation Centre, so far 79 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents. Due to these incidents, there is an estimated financial loss of Rs 662 crore till August 3.
Efforts are being made to find all the missing persons as soon as possible. Despite the challenging circumstances, rescue teams are working tirelessly to provide some relief to the affected families.
Officials are closely monitoring the situation and providing necessary assistance to the people affected by this natural disaster.
